12.11.2025 23:33 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0And like, even without a positive case for Platner there were Signs with fetterman - in politics before he had a discernable political ideology, was always entrepeneurial abt it, had a weird relationship w/ nat. left when bernie didn't endorse him in 18, and he and the pgh left hated each other.
23.10.2025 13:14 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Possibly an even worse site to say this on than twitter, but I think everyone forgets the simple value of waiting a couple weeks and seeing how things play out if you've got the option.
23.10.2025 04:51 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I do get the other dooming aspects tho.
23.10.2025 04:43 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I don't really think that tracks. Say what you want about the whole thing but I don't think Fetterman's reaction each time something new happened would be "oops!"
Likewise afaict relationship w/ bernie and labor different between the two of them.
SMC members, friends, and families came out today for No Kings!

17.10.2025 21:31 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Also, I don't know if it's better or worse but the differing reasons for *why* Frenesi/Perfidia are attracted to Brock/Lockjaw is pretty significant in re: What The Movie Is Trying To Say
17.10.2025 05:22 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I guess what I will say is this: the (probably necessary) cutting out of Frenesi/Perfidia's extended family and focusing on Zoyd/Bob + Prairie/Willa as a nuclear dyad makes the "we fight on in generational cycles and lose but have each other" ending feel more hollow and individualistic.

04.10.2025 05:54 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Finished! In many ways a confounding book. I liked (or rather, appreciated) the sort of rolling structure of the book - a series of vignettes and essays that are loosely chronological but reflect the scattered way in which we relate our own lives. I'm not sure I enjoyed the experience tho.
04.10.2025 05:33 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Are they betting on the middle of the officer class being more sympathetic to them? Browbeating the top brass only seems to make sense as a move to sow division / give (implied political) permission to lower ranks to disobey superior officers

17.08.2025 21:32 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Hard to describe in words how delightfully neurotic the book is. The framing device is a confession to murder, yet here we are on page 100 discussing a particular stone in a wall that the narrator held religious reverence for as a child.

04.08.2025 19:54 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0It was fine. I think I will like it more as the memories of specific pieces of dialogue stay sharp and the experience of having to actually read it recedes.
