I'm celebrating Women's History Month by working on my new book, "Beyond the Launchpad: The Unsung Women of the Space Race." This is a photo of the first female launch director, Charlie Blackwell Thompson, meeting with JoAnn Morgan, the only woman in the firing room during the launch of Apollo 11.

It's officially official - I've been contracted to write the book, "Beyond the Launchpad: The Unsung Women of the Space Race," tracing women's largely unheralded role in helping Americans land on the moon.

We're getting closer to the premier of our new podcast, Meanwhile...Mobile, where we bring little known, obscure, and forgotten history of the port city to life. We're be in the studio this morning, putting a bow on the premier episode that will debut in February.

Claudette Colvin, who refused to move seats on a bus at start of civil rights movement, dies at 86 | CNN Claudette Colvin, whose 1955 arrest for refusing to give up her seat on a segregated Montgomery, Alabama, bus helped spark the modern civil rights movement, has died. She was 86.

RIP Claudette Colvin. In 1955, several months before Rosa Parks would spark the Montgomery Bus Boycott 15y.o. Claudette did the same, refusing to give up her seat to a white passenger. She was arrested on the same charges as Parks but her story barely made the news.

Paddington Bear writer Michael Bond was born today in 1926. Paddington offered the world a wealth of wisdom, like "If we're kind and polite, the world will be right," and "I'll never be like other people, but that's alright because I'm a bear." Bond passed away in 2017.

I spent a pleasant, cool Sunday evening with 170 friends in Fairhope, AL doing what we do best - making good trouble.

Another whirlwind year. Two more books released, The Pig War and the Pelican Girls and Notable Women of Alabama, and one of my short stories was selected to appear in the Emerald Coast Review XXIII anthology. Thank you for your support and purchasing my books these past 25 years!
