Radioactive Wastelands and Also Legal Wrangling: Kelly and Zach Weinersmith’s A City on Mars - Reactor Real talk about how we can settle space β€” and if it's really a good idea.

Frank, funny, and incredibly well-researched, "A City on Mars" offers real talk about the work that needs to be done before humans can settle space–and offers some new angles for science fiction to explore:

From Greta Thunberg : I heard Donald Trump once again has expressed his very flattering opinions on my character, and I appreciate his concerns for my mental health.

To Trump : I would kindly receive any recommendations you might have to deal with these so called β€œanger management problems” since - judging by your impressive track record - you seem to be suffering from them too.

This is how I run my newsletter! There are a lot of links I find via social media feeds in each issue, but that's often pure luck that I saw it. Sources with dedicated RSS feeds mean it will definitely come across my desk at some point. I use Inoreader on the basic plan (for now) and it's solid.

πŸ“£ NEW CRITICAL FRIENDS!

In a new ep of the @strangehorizons.bsky.social SFF criticism podcast, I talk with @redfernjon.bsky.social and Nileena Sunil about books that might be longer, and others that could be shorter.

How to read a text that offers too little, or too much, stuff? Some ideas.

I have, in my time, asked SF writers to write non-fiction. The results have been, without exception, both brilliant and entertaining.

It's almost as if excellent SF writers are excellent writers full stop.
