The precursor to MMWR began in 1878 to address emerging public health threats rapidly.

The problem is the 100% focus on shareholder value.

If a company pays decently or does something good for the environment or community, activist shareholders can bring suit claiming the company is illegally holding down shareholder value: "They should be paying >dividends or doing buybacks"

Hahaha - my dad's cousin was a personal friend of Phyllis Schlafly, and it was a riot. The cousin's husband did the dishes, (she cooked, he cleaned up - fair!) but she also dictated their every move.
