You donβt have to support Carney because Poilievre is worse. He is the government, weβre not in an election and we donβt deserve to be treated like this. Pick another Liberal if you have to, to champion as leader.

That's fair that this post doesn't say that. I'm just frustrated about the trend of posts that focus on American soldiers, which sends a message that the war only is really bad if American soldiers die. It's systemic racism/nationalism that's not the fault of a single poster.
01.03.2026 23:39 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The Americans chose to be there. I know there would have been enormous consequences for them if they refused, but the little girls who were slaughtered had no choice in the matter. The Americans' lives are not worth more than the innocent humans perishing in the fallout.
01.03.2026 21:01 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The Canadian economy of billionaires' wealth increasing is not helping the individual Canadian's experience of not being able to afford essentials. Money doesn't trickle down, especially if you tax the rich less and remove public services. The numbers only look good on a banker's spreadsheet.

It's not profitable or a helpful tool, and trying to sell others planet-killing energy sources to power it should not be the Canadian way, though I guess what else can we expect from a banker.
01.03.2026 20:39 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0February 28th, 2026 NDP statement on Iran bombings Following the events in Iran, Alexandre Boulerice, NDP Foreign Affairs Critic, issued the following statement: "The NDP strongly condemns the American and Israeli bombings of Iran. This is a dangerous escalation that risks dragging the entire region into a major conflict. The oppressive and bloody regime of the Ayatollahs is reprehensible, but its nuclear program must be managed through the United Nations and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). In fact, its Director General, Mr. Grossi, recently indicated that he was working with the Iranian administration to resume inspections and reiterated that there could be no solution other than a diplomatic one. The NDP deplores the Carney government's decision to blindly support this dangerous venture by Israel and Donald Trump's administration. We want Canada to be a voice for diplomacy, peace, and international law."
Here is @ndp.caβs statement condemning US-Israeli military strikes in Iran and calling on the Carney government to defend international law

Lots of academics I really respect are highlighting this misunderstanding, which Iβve apparently also fallen prey to.
But thereβs an important point here:
What did Carney think laymen would take away from his speech when he spoke of taking a sign out of a window in the face of a bullying regime?
Remember: Donald Trump created this crisis. He walked away from the Iran nuclear deal that was working, promising a "better deal." He didn't deliver. He escalated, abandoned real diplomacy, and has now led us into a conflict that puts us all at risk.

It gives ministers sweeping power to override Parliament by waiving laws for select individuals and corporations. Such extraordinary measures shouldn't be buried in a 600βpage omnibus bill.

If we aren't tackling growing economic inequality, our economy will continue to undeperform.
Growth vs. equality is a false choice. It is framing that is inconsistent with the evidence.

The Liberalsβ decision to repeal the Underused Housing Tax makes no sense. This measure was meant to curb foreign speculation in Canada's housing market and raise nearly $700M for public priorities. Scrapping it means giving up an important tool for addressing the housing crisis.

The cult of leadership is a failed model.
Thatβs why our campaign made the deliberate choice to launch with bold solutions that address the everyday emergencies facing Canadians.
Because this campaign isnβt about Avi βΒ itβs about all of us. This is how we build power and win.

One thing we donβt do well, societally or interpersonally, is digest harms when there really isnβt anyone to blame.
Being called a n*gger on international television in front of your peers is a harm.
Having a disability that creates that harm through no choice of your own is a harm.
My latest story is out. Bots get banned on social media.
The workaround? Real humans posting AI-generated messages in a gamified system, coordinated by an AI command centre. And it's being offered to your local town councillor.
