That was a v good book at the time it was published, but I’m not sure how well it stands up in the light of new discoveries & theories, so it may be quite out of date at this point.

Well, it doesn’t disabuse people of the notion that the “chimp” silhouette is actually a different (extinct) genus, which is one of the biggest mistakes people make in my experience.

Fair enough. I thought it might have been an artistic choice. 😉

The crescent here is more like a heraldic charge. In a crescent moon, the horns don’t extend past the poles; it should be drawn within a half moon.

I think one of the problems ŵ popular (simplified) versions of the March of Progress image is that many lay people assume the first ape, Dryopithecus, is a chimp.

I think this kind of diagram shows better how things (may have) happened. This probably doesn’t reflect recent findings.
