Thank you for this. I'm sure it's clouded by my parents' interests and interpretations, but I can't think of an equivalent to The Beatles' and The Beach Boys' battle for relevancy.
I wish I could have experienced it in real time myself. Today, we reap the benefits of the rivalry.

100% my experience. Cedar Ridge has the best whiskey in the state with their single malts, which is saying something since I MUCH prefer bourbon. Their bourbons are fine (actually, good!) but it’s not my flavor profile. Don’t know if Iowa will ever have a perfect bourbon for me.

I remember a time when people obsessed over "Rich Men North of Richmond" as their rallying cry for the working class, only to kiss the feet of Donald Trump and Elon Musk and trusting these millionaire/billionaires have them and their humble 5-digit salaries in their best interests.

Seems pretty bad that Elon Musk (a non-elected adviser to the president) seems to have as much (or more) influence on U.S. politics in the past month than our last president did in years. And pretty much all of it via questionably legal avenues. Everyone seems concerned and nothing is being done.

Something about ‘90s and early ‘00s concert DVDs absolutely rewires my brain chemistry for some reason. Fleetwood Mac’s “The Dance”, The Eagles’ “Hell Freezes Over”, etc. They transport you to the perfect intersection of live music and production on physical media. I’m sad that’s disappearing.

Also, it's funny because I think a lot of Christians feel torn that they hear this album and feel truly "moved by God" but this just proves they simply have an emotional connection to music and misattribute it to something more holy lol. Sadly too easy to manipulate people via religion.

I somehow ended up on ChristianTok and so many of them have been mourning Kanye's "JESUS IS KING" gospel album because his wife was naked on the red carpet and they couldn't believe a man who wrote such powerful music had "lost his way." My brother, Kanye been screaming he's a Nazi for years now lol
