Co-hosting an event with @praxis and @LSE, we brought together academics and migration experts to address messaging amidst fear and disinformation. The event highlighted balancing values with pragmatism, engaging the β€˜moveable middle,’ and fostering honest discussions on challenges and solutions.

Really useful insights here @britishfuture.bsky.social highlighting divisions & tensions which exist in 1 yr on from the riots. But at a local level people often feel that those from different backgrounds get on well. Stronger community cohesion is possible but it needs significantly more funding

We spent yesterday working with journalists to help bring human voices of those affected by the Afghan data breach to the media. We mobilised our networks & provided a number of excellent spokespeople who shared their anxieties & fears over the breach

View from Calais: why so many are risking small boats for the UK In Calais we speak to some of the thousands of migrants hoping to cross from northern France, on small boats, into the UK - risking their lives in the process.

We recently worked @channel4news.bsky.social supporting them to report on Channel crossings. The news team spent time getting to know the people in Calais & understanding how to film sensitively. More in-depth reporting like this is needed

Through a child’s eyes: What ethical reporting should look like on the border - IMIX Listening to Radio 4 last week, I was shockedβ€”but not surprisedβ€”to hear the Home Secretary say sheΒ can’t waitΒ for French police to wade into the water with knives to slash boats carrying people trying...

IMIX CEO @jenniregan.bsky.social reflects on what ethical reporting on the border should like after working with charities in Calais.

As media interest in Channel crossings increases it's crucial to tell human stories behind the headlines sensitively & safely

Great video from #WorldRefugeeDay @bestforbritain.org which highlights how little many people know about refugees in the UK and the support which they are given. One person thought millions of asylum seekers were given status in the UK in 2024 - in reality it was under 40,000.

We’re joining @projectplayfrance.bsky.social to call for the UK government to:

1️⃣ Take accountability for deaths in the Channel
2️⃣ End funding for border violence
3️⃣ Create safe, accessible routes to asylum

UK taxpayer money is funding this violence.

It's making the border more dangerous for children and families seeking asylum - placing them at increased risk of harm, serious injury and death.

This report is dedicated to the 14 children who died in 2024.

It centres the voices of children on the move and the reality they face:
Children and babies teargassed
Boats stabbed as children try to board
Children detained and criminalised
No official record of their deaths

🚨Did you know the government has made it nearly impossible for many refugees to become British citizens?

It's based on how they arrived, not who they are as people. This affects our neighbours, colleagues, friends.

I followed every rule as an asylum seeker - I was still detained I wouldn’t wish a detention centre on anyone, let alone on people who are forced to come to the UK because they have no other choice.
