The section from Merthyr Tydfil mostly follows a disused railway line and crosses the spectacular Cefn Coed Viaduct, before climbing up to the reservoir at Pontsticill.

From there, you're rewarded with stunning views across the highest mountains in the Brecon Beacons.

The Taff Trail runs for 55 miles between Cardiff and Brecon, but can be broken down into much smaller sections if you're looking for a shorter ride. The Merthyr section is a great option for a quick afternoon trip.

Our research shows the positive impact of these projects, such as a higher percentage change in how people travel compared to more affluent areas.

While a quarter of the Network runs through areas of depravation, almost half the projects we carry out on the Network are with communities in these areas.

The Network is well loved by the communities it serves, it offers a safe and welcoming space for community groups such as walking and cycling groups to flourish.

We know marginalised communities face health inequalities and we are committed to reaching underrepresented groups

The Disabled Citizens’ Inquiry uncovered even greater support amongst people with mobility impairments (79%) and people who are visually impaired (84%).

In 2023, our Walking and Cycling Index report found that 65% of people want to give local councils the power to enforce pavement parking restrictions.

Five years of waiting: Pavement parking is a problem for everyone.

Back in 2020, the Department for Transport opened a public consultation on pavement parking, and more than 15,000 people responded.

Five years later, we're still waiting for a response, and nothing has changed.

The path has a 10km scale model of our Solar System, with the planets the correct distance (proportionally!) from the Sun and each other.
