TFW you have just managed (laboriously, looking like an idiot) to communicate with the checkout staff at the IGA, and they start talking to each other in rapid, unaccented English.

This puts me at 10 people released. I filed my 1st habeas petition 29 days ago. I am an incredibly small-time, nobody lawyer who knew nothing about immigration law the day I submitted that case. I barely know any more today. I had never sued the federal government and now I've beaten them 10 times.

There is no 10-dimensional chess game. They are just cruel and greedy and stupid.

My kid did the same (though he didn't put it all together until about 5.5, whereas I was reading fluently by 4), but I'm willing to believe we're a family of outliers.

That said, I also doubt that the other 99% of humans all need the exact same process to learn to read.

I learned how to read purely by osmosis long before starting school, my parents were absolutely not teaching me phonics, and trust me, there is nothing wrong with my reading.
