It is measured in ΞΌmol/kg (micromoles/ kilogram): the concentration of oxygen molecules (O2) in a kilogram of water. Solubility plays an important role in the amount of dissolved oxygen in ocean waters. It increases when ocean waters are colder, with lower pressure and low salinity.
