but i also don't really know what the solution to it would be, the history of the character is out there as common knowledge, it may be impossible to successfully separate him from those clumsy first steps of early development even after all the symbols have been removed. it's unfortunate

it seems like maybe the disassociation from specific voodoo stuff doesn't feel strong enough to people bc of stereotypes? like the image of a creole man performing even generic dark blood magic will still make ppl think voodoo. his stitches in demon form like a voodoo doll probably also don't help

right like i want to listen to and trust creole voices on this, their hurt is understandable, but i've been trying to dig and find exactly where in the human flashback there are explicit voodoo symbols. like i don't know anything about this please point them out.
