Morning, Stephen. I'm touring schools for World Book Day all week, and I'm reading Four Weddings and a Funeral Director by @stephcampisi.bsky.social. I promised myself I'd read more widely this year, and I've never tried a romcom!

Rewatching '90s Trek in recent years, it struck me that they're (mostly) soap operas in space. They're not epic adventure quests. Even DS9, for all its serialisation, is a soap opera set during a war.

This where being a Doctor Who fan has come in handy over the years. Continuity is great until it gets in the way, at which point you simply ignore it.

I've said it before but it's worth saying again; Murder for Dummies is the sort of comedy that BBC 2 used to do so well. Shades of League of Gentlemen and Psychoville. Dark, silly, but played dead straight.

Six more days! It's about a girl who inherits a business called The Unfinished Business, and is then tasked with finishing the unfinished business of the late, ghostly owner of The Unfinished Business. It's very whimsical and (I think) very charming.

Was thinking of The Owl House just the other day, and it's good to see there are new stories on the way.

Why do I have to pretend that I'm going to print something in order to save it as a PDF. Why do I have to engage in a little ruse.

Always nice to see Machine popping off. It was my main back in S1.

Mad God by Phil Tippett. Like a Hieronymus Bosch painting come to life. Wonderful, strange, but very unsettling.

I've been (belatedly) stumbling across so many good comedies on i-Player lately. Only Child and Daddy Issues are both really good.

We're part way through here, and I was thinking this exact thing last night. "It's a comic fantasy about a sad old bloke growing magical creatures in his shed." I think anyone else would have been laughed out of the room.

A friend of mine was a producer on that. They worked their butt off, and were so proud of the end result. I'm told it's great, but I've never met anyone who's ever seen it.
