Mostly depends on the type of story and whether you have a good stopping point or not. I tend to stop when things have settled down or just before something big

It generally doesn't matter as long as it's exported as a pdf, I use notes to get my ideas down without forgetting them then use Google Docs later for actual drafting since it automatically saves progress

Yeah, it takes lots of practice and study to get writing skills up to snuff with the actual ideas but it's very worth it

I personally would try to make one myself, but I never blame anyone for getting help or having someone else do it outright. That's what I did for a D&D character once and the DM had fun with it, I also loved it because I just filled in some details to personalize it.
