I truly is phenomenal and definitely one of the games from that era that has aged the best.

I think I’ve just realized over the years that I prefer stories that change the pace.

This was never more clear to me than in FFXV when people have almost the exact same problem and I was like “oh hell yes they are doing the FF6 thing!” lol

XVI had similar pacing “issues” for some.

Marvel destroyed CINEMA and everyone simply imagined these movies.

Again the huge cast is one of my favorite things about it and something I wish the series would do again so yeah we are just very far part on this one.

I actually think your opinion is the majority which has always been bizarre to me because I just don’t see it.

It’s actually one of the main reasons I tend not to go down the rabbit hole with people on “pacing” in general because it’s SO subjective, especially in a video game.

Being able to take almost the entire cast to the final dungeon is one of my favorite things about that game and we are constantly complaining on the podcast that none of the others (until Rebirth) let us do that.

As long as I live I will never understand the negativity some have towards the world of ruin which contains some of my favorite moments in gaming history. It’s always been strange to me.

I’ve heard people say this over the years and have never understood it but like you said it’s highly subjective.

I don’t think I could describe any moment of FF6 outside of the coliseum as a 6/10

Chrono Trigger is a great game but it is often overrated especially by people who don’t like other JRPGs.

FF6 is the far more ambitious (and in my view better) title but CT gets more legacy points because it is simpler, smaller, and takes few if any narrative or thematic risks.

My least favorite is FFII

Little Lochlann was a happy camper up in Idaho Springs all day with mom and dad on our third wedding anniversary.

The character models were surprisingly bland and bad given the graphical quality of everything else.

I played the demo and liked it. Wanna get it when it goes on sale for sure (I buy almost everything on sale)

I’ve always been a fan of their tactical stuff going back to Odin Sphere and I also really liked 13 Sentinels. I just never could get into Persona for some reason.
