8/ Then there’s the data entry problem: 17 entries just say “SEE FPDS” instead of listing savings. Looks like a failed data scrape. Manual retrieval would take 10 minutes, but DOGE didn’t bother.

7/ Cutting contracts isn’t just about numbers—it affects jobs. In 2023, the SSA contract funded 1,000 full-time employees at $100/hour. Slashing this deal could mean a lot of private-sector layoffs.

6/ Even the biggest claimed savings weren’t double-checked. The SSA IT services contract is listed as a $1B cut, but 80% of the funding was already spent. The real savings? About $240M over the next 3 years—$80M per year, not $1B.

5/ The numbers assume every unallocated dollar would’ve been spent, which isn’t how government contracts work. Many are flexible, meaning actual spending could have been much lower than the total set-aside.

4/ USAID contracts are another mess. Three contracts are each listed as $655M savings, totaling $2B. But these are Indefinite Delivery Vehicles (IDVs), meaning they aren’t fully spent contracts. The $655M is a set-aside, and only $73M has actually been used in 5 years.

3/ Major discrepancies start with the DHS contract. DOGE claims $8B in savings, but the real number is just $8M. Looks like a botched data scrape from FPDS. That alone slashes the claimed total by billions.

2/ First, let’s do the math. Adding up the “saved” amounts from all canceled contracts & real estate gives us $16.5B + $0.14B. That’s nowhere near $55B. So where’s the extra $38B coming from? 🤔
