Are gasoline prices down under Trump? Earlier in his commends at the White House, President Donald Trump claimed that gasoline prices are down since he took office. BBC Verify recently looked into this claim. They found that the average price for "regular" gas - or petrol - currently $3.16, external, according to data by the American Association (AAA). That's actually slightly up from $3.125, external the day Trump entered office. Trump has also said that gas prices "just hit $1.98 in a lot of states” - a claim he has made several times recently. We cannot find any evidence of these prices. No state has an average gas price lower than $2.67, according to AAA. The BBC has asked the White House for more information about these claims.

My relationship with Catholicism is complicated, as well, but I share your thoughts on Pope Francis. He gave me hope that Catholics would follow his lead and be more empathetic with those whose struggles differ from ours. I’m not sure that happened, though. May he rest in eternal peace.

We need more than Jerome Powell to defeat Trump. We need bravery from Congress. It’s natural to fear retaliation, but bravery means feeling fear AND taking necessary action anyway. If many stand up to do the right thing, it becomes much harder for Trump to retaliate. There is safety in numbers.

So many people want a gun for self defense. I get why, but it’s the same argument as giving teachers guns in schools.

If we had stricter gun laws, the odds of needing a gun for self defense go way down, no matter if you’re at home, school, or wherever.

The more guns, the more fatal shootings.

I never had to figure out which facility would take my 90yo Mom (see 🧵). She ended up in hospice for a week and died in today’s early morning hours. She is reunited with Dad, who died 4/17/24. She has missed him so very much. I imagine her now, smiling and joking like she used to, happy once more.

It’s a place called June Farms in West Sand Lake, NY. You can walk around the farm, learn about their farm animals, pet baby goats, and see a lot of frog statues! My daughter brought me there for birthday. 🥰
