I get the suspicion. Fuck knows we've been shafted enough times.

But I know the councillors making the move here, and their politics are all sound.

Its not about Corbyn. Its about having an actual platform for the Left. And having been involved with YP, I can say in Scotland at least, it isn't riddled with transphobia and the rest.

If it was, the people moving to it, including trans people like me, wouldn't be making that move.

Today, I'm announcing that I have joined the currently named Your Party, and I'm resigning my membership, and therefore Scottish Parliamentary candidacy, of the Scottish Green Party. My reasons for leaving the Greens are many in number, but fundamentally I have joined Your Party because I recognise that the future of our country is at stake, and this new project is the only vehicle which can keep Nigel Farage out of 10 Downing Street and build a socialist, independent Scotland.

None of the existing Holyrood parties can be taken seriously when it comes to the fight against austerity; every single one of them is complicit in passing on brutal cuts to public services and making the lives of the working classes worse. Your Party can be a huge mass movement which can take on the far right in our communities, our neighbourhoods, our workplaces. I'm excited to get stuck in, and although this move means I won't be standing for Holyrood next May, I'm excited to get campaigning to elect Your Party MSPs, MPs and councillors who will stand up for the working class.

I'm so grateful to everyone who supported me during my time in the Greens, and my message to each and every one of you is simple: join me. I'm thrilled to be joining Your Party at the same time as three fantastic councillors in Dan, Leòdhas and Seonad, as well as countless activists who like me, recognise the huge potential this new party holds. Dan, Leòdhas and Seonad will keep fighting for their communities within the city chambers, and I can't wait to keep on supporting them. In solidarity, Ellie

I like my other former Green colleagues are fed up of the abandonment of whole communities. I have joined Your Party because I am tired of lending our power to politicians who don’t answer to us. We have the power to fight back with a new politics, I want to be part of a movement, not a slogan.
