Meredith and Sams have entered too but they aren't signed for the One-Day Cup anyway
Although Sams did become available at the last minute for a few ODC games for Notts last season, and with it immediately following the Blast this year something similar can't be ruled out

I'd say Abell, Gregory, Kohler-Cadmore, Overton and Smeed are certain to be signed
The Rews haven't got much top level T20 experience but their strong reputations mean one or both being signed wouldn't be a shock
Think it's unlikely any of our other players will be signed

Worth reading this. It exposes the naivety of the idea that the sale of the Hundred teams will "save county cricket".

I see that Will Smeed entered yesterday's PSL auction but was unsold
Riley Meredith was sold, but as the PSL finishes on 3 May and the Blast starts on 22 May it shouldn't affect his Somerset availability

It's England v India in the U19 World Cup final
It starts at 7:30am on Sky Sports Cricket
What a law change that is by the way. Delighted.

England play Australia in the first semi-final of the U19 World Cup right now
It's on Sky Sports Cricket
...should too. Obviously we get great crowds at the County Ground for all men's matches but if the idea of professionalising women's county cricket was to put them on an equal footing with the men I'm not sure we can justify the current situation for many more years.

...in Truro or somewhere in the north of Somerset) so, if we must use outgrounds, we can play some games in places where we would be genuinely spreading county cricket
Of course, there's also the question of whether, if the women have to play at outgrounds, the men...
6/7
Somerset have said before there aren't any other club grounds in the region which are suitable for county cricket, and it's definitely better to play at the Vale than somewhere unsuitable. But hopefully we are looking at ways to improve a ground or two (eg Boscawen Park...
5/7
(I'm not sure why the game on 9 September is at the Vale - the last cricket before that at the County Ground is on 5 September, and the only cricket after that at the County Ground starts on 24 September)
4/7
But our ambition should be to play no matches at the Vale as soon as possible. It's clearly only used as an option of convenience and it's not spreading county cricket somewhere different.
3/7
There's nothing inherently wrong with the idea of playing women's or men's county cricket at outgrounds and I think it's somewhat positive to play at Exmouth, as we effectively represent the whole south west and by playing there we're spreading cricket around the region.
2/7
I see the proportion of Somerset Women games away from the County Ground will increase slightly
In 2025, 3 of Somerset's 15 home games were at outgrounds (20%, 2 at Taunton Vale, 1 at Exmouth)
In 2026, 4 of 14 home games will be at outgrounds (29%, 2 at Vale, 2 at Exmouth)

England play New Zealand in their second and final U19 World Cup Super 6 match right now
It's on Sky Sports Cricket
A win would put England in the semis; a loss would mean we're relying on Pakistan losing, or not winning too well, against India on Sunday
England play Bangladesh in their first Super Six match of the U19 World Cup today
It's on Sky Sports Cricket from 7:30am
England play Scotland in their third match of the Men's U19 World Cup right now
It's on Sky Sports Main Event
Great work from Thomas Rew there

England, led by Thomas Rew, are playing their first game of the men's U19 World Cup against Pakistan right now
England are batting first and it's on Sky Sports Mix (channel 416)
No surprise, and massive good luck to him. Glad he's found a county where he'll hopefully get more regular cricket.
Also note the wording - he "has elected to leave" ie he rejected Somerset's contract offer. He wasn't released by the club as some media reports have stated.
Also, the second stage is called the Super 6, even though there are 12 teams
In the men's T20 World Cup, the second stage is called the Super 8, because it has 8 teams divided into 2 groups of 4
So why isn't it the Super 12 in the Under-19 World Cup? Who knows!
3/3
In your group of 6, you only play 2 matches, as results against fellow group qualifiers are carried over
And you don't play against the side that finished in the equivalent finishing position to you in another group from the first stage
