Happy birthday Sir David! In celebration of a mighty 99 years around the sun and the release of the most important conservation film of our generation (go see β€œOcean with David Attenborough”).
Thank you for being our guiding light, the voice of our conscience, and the voice for our planet. πŸ™πŸŒπŸ’›

Our Changing Planet: Restoring our Rivers, is on BBCOne and BBCiPlayer this Sunday at 7pm.
I’m in Northern California witnessing the dismantling of huge dams & how the mighty Klamath River is being brought back to life thanks to an incredible river ecosystem restoration project.

Loved the panel with this lovely lot, discussing how our industry can play a meaningful part in behavioural change, tackling the issue at the root cause, galvanising our collective power as a sector, when leadership in others might be lacking.

Ah yeah. There she goes again. Enthusing about the need for systemic & economic transformation if we are to succeed in protecting the planet’s life support systems that we need to thrive (my whole career as a wildlife biologist & broadcaster has led me to this point, I couldn’t be more convinced)🧡

New powder that captures carbon could be β€˜quantum leap’ for industry A β€˜covalent organic framework’ can be used to capture carbon to store it or convert it for industrial use

"Just half a pound of the stuff may remove as much carbon dioxide as a tree can". What the f**k does that even mean?

A mature tree removes ~25 kg of COβ‚‚/year. This "new powder" is a sorbent with a capacity of 0.96 mmol/g, so that's 0.0096 kg of COβ‚‚ per 0.5 lbs. You'd need 1305 lbs to equal a tree.

A tiny taste of the animals of GalΓ‘pagos..
Giant tortoises, sea lions, blue footed red footed and Nazca boobies, waved albatrosses, marine iguanas, mockingbirds (that sparked Darwin’s imagination about evolution before the finches did) and even flamingos!
Coming soon in collaboration with Nat Geo.
