#JamesBarryDiary 3/12/1875 Something milder and very good going indeed. There is just enough snow for sledding, and no more. Cunningham here in the mill and myself bookbinding as hard as I can — a fearful quantity of books to bind. All well. Amen.

Five players are on the ice: one in a light-colored sweater with number 5, facing four opponents in dark striped sweaters, shorts, and striped socks. The player with the puck is crouched low, stick on the ice, while defenders close in. A goal net is visible in the background against boarded rink walls with sparse spectators. On this day in 1909, the National Hockey Association was formed with initially four teams. The league introduced three period hockey, allowed player changes on the fly and eliminated the rover position. The league operated until 1917 when the NHL replaced it.

It's finally here. A history of the Nova Scotia lobster fishery.
Morton is truly an historian's historian, and from the installments I've seen, the book is going to have riches of social history, politics, economics, and even some marine biology.

#JamesBarryDiary 25/11/1875 A real wintery looking day; snowing a little most of the time and freezing hard. Cunningham attending the mill and kiln. I was busy all day ceiling my bed-room upstairs in the new house. As much Oats coming in as we can do on both kilns, but most of the grists are small.
