One of my goals with my band is transparency for others to see the feasibility of starting a band or other creative endeavor despite the struggles.

Since I'm bringing this update thread over from Twitter today, I just wanted to say that our band has locked in 3/5 new covers to learn hopefully this year: #BadApple #CrossingField #SeishunComplex

We're looking forward to getting singles recorded and performing at AniMinneapolis cosplay halftime🤞

I "started" writing a song in 2025, but nothing yet

I tried to "studio record" Alcohol Free (ENG) and it was a mess cuz Cakewalk didn't detect my Blue Yeti, and then I tried to DIRECTLY RECORD VOCALS on Sony Vegas Pro (would not recommend)

But I realized that any time you sing karaoke that is YOUR cover. That is YOUR performance.

But anyway, I've been getting a bunch of videos of me singing at karaoke and stuff. And I haven't put them up anywhere cuz they don't feel good enough or like something people would want to see.

But I do want to post clips of some of my videos for #SingingMarch eventually (if that is on Bluesky)

Eventually I think I'd like to start an indie video game studio, but right now the thought of working on my video games and trying to make them something worthwhile makes me nauseous.

I feel like I have a lot of creativity that I'm afraid to put effort into cuz it'd "be a waste"

I always want the band to be fun, and I'm still anxious about trying to get gigs for Japanese covers in the Mankato area (once we work up an hour+ set)

We have other obligations, and I would like to go from helping my mom in Adult Basic Ed as a para to programming tutor/mentor.

I'm just beyond grateful that Wine Cafe karaoke has helped me get out of my shell (even though it still feels like I'm not doing social right) and that Michelle is giving me a platform and support for my band.

We only have 5 songs so far, and we're mainly focusing anime cons.

They help me keep pushing forward when I feel like I was stupid to quit my job, and that I shouldn't experiment with fashion, and that I shouldn't be so interested in Japanese music, and that I don't know how to run a band, and that I'm not a great singer. And other issues.

So, this video and this performance mean so much to me. The Wine Cafe karaoke has been a great place for me to do something I love and share it with others.

Michelle and the others there have been so supportive, and I've made a lot of good friends there who help me keep going.

It was so cool. That was May 17th, 2024 before I wrapped stuff up with my job.

I have gone to karaoke most weeks since singing mostly Japanese songs and doing lots of promo for the band.. which Michelle supports and encourages.

I wanted us to play as a full band for our 1-year anniversary

Like, I didn't (and usually don't) want to impose.. and Michelle was just super supportive.

So one of my friends used a tool to remove the vocals from the song, and we performed our cover debut of Dream Star by the generous (Skip Beat OP 1) playing our "backing track" with Possum plugged in.

Possum and I dusted off Dream Star which we had from when I sang it (12 times?) with the Spoon Cherries before they disbanded.

I asked Michelle if Possum and I could do an acoustic cover for our band before karaoke officially started, and she just said "I can plug him in"

So, now I've sang a bunch of different songs at karaoke (mostly Japanese), gotten more confident in singing, and made a bunch of friends.

I thought it would be good for band promo for Possum and I to play at an open mic. But What's Up Lounge closed and Wine Cafe stopped its one.

She only had Eat You Up, which I didn't even know. So I just sang A Cruel Angel's Thesis again. 😂

And then the next week I asked if she had a database that I could check ahead of time (so I wasn't asking for a bunch of stuff she didn't have)

So I sang A Cruel Angel's Thesis. I was hella shaky and nervous (natural vibrato XD), but I did it and got in deep voice parts. I struggled a bit but got through. I was critical of my performance, but it was fun.

Next week I wanted to do Sweet Impact by BoA, but it wasn't there.

I decided to just go to the karaoke cuz I wanted to sing (but didn't think they had and J-Pop, etc.), so I sang The Love Boat theme song.

And it was fun. I made a friend there and told him I wanted to sing Japanese songs, and he assured me Michelle would have some.

In 2023 I went to a local hangout spot in my city called the Wine Cafe for an open mic night cuz I wanted to sing some Japanese karaoke (which took me a while, and my friend's former band the Spoon Cherries, to work up the courage to even consider trying)

They didn't have a system to plug in a USB.

And I wasn't given enough help, so I quit my job beginning of June 2024 and started Zenbu-ita.

With live music I've found a way to sing and share music I love without being mentally dragged down by perfectionism and doubts, and I actually get a sense of fulfillment.

And after I graduated, I got a job where one of my main projects was being put in charge of a huge machine learning pill counter project that I put a ton of work into and trained up multiple models.. but none of them were ever good enough..

It was emotionally exhausting..

Other Youtaite friends at the time would talk about "the next cover" and being stressed but in a more fun way (although don't get me started on the maso of chorus battles 😂😅)

Anyway, it felt like making cover videos was a lot of work and wouldn't be worth the effort for me..

I like languages and singing in Japanese, and I've uploaded some stuff on YouTube and SoundCloud. But I've never been active in the Youtaite community.

It always felt like I had to record perfectly.. and then get art done.. and then get it mixed and mastered. It seemed stressful on top of college.

So I started an anime and J-Pop cover band (primarily) back in 2024 called Zenbu-itadaku Re:Cover (Zenbu-ita for short)

I love a lot of anime and music from them as well as other Japanese music like City Pop and Fujii Kaze
