Published in 1975, the book The Evolution and Ecology of the Dinosaurs π¦ by Bev Halstead is now 50 years old. The illustrations may be dated, but they represent an important stage in science, and in the representation of dinosaurs, as one of the first #dinosaur books in printed colour #FossilFriday

#OTD today is the 200th anniversary of the reading Gideon Mantell's paper to @royalsociety.org naming Iguanodon on 10 Feb 1825. The name comes from the similarity of the dinosaur's teeth to those of the Iguana. Dinosaurs with similar teeth found in #Hastings were also given this name in later years.
