I think we have a very different view on MSR as a race haha😅. Visma have 0.0% chance at winning Fleche or LBL as long as Pog is there.
You always have a shot at MSR.

I agree about Strade, he has no shot at winning here. Winning MSR however is a very reasonable goal for someone like Wout, even if he's an outsider.

Maybe I'm just not emotionally ready to call him washed yet, but after what he did last year on finestre I think he still deserves at least co-leadership in races

Well yeah you don't have to tell me peak Wout is dead, I cry myself to sleep thinking about that every night :`). And yes, maybe he'll decline even more this year. I just think it's too early to completely give up on him as a leader. Today shows he's still an asset everytime he races.

Poah, I think you're seriously underrating Van Aert now. Even if he's not at his absolute best, he should make group 2 in MSR if he's in decent position. Him not being able to follow in a race like Strade doesn't change that for me.

These races are also just a way to build shape/ racing rhythm. Can't always fight for the win

Yeah the ankle and the illness combined don't help. I would always start MSR if I'm Wout. He's already in ok shape, and it's still 2 weeks away. And even if he can't follow on Poggio, he'll be in group 2 with Brennan/Laporte fighting for a podium/top 5🤷.
