La raza cosmica essentialized mestizaje because V was too close to the essentialism championed by cientificos of the Porfiriato. Being modern meant erasing the Indigenous and Europeanizing Mexicans. Vasconcelos posits the midway salvage point of celebrating mestizaje.

1/3 It doesn't take a lot of education to understand the relationship between Indigenous peoples of Anglo & Latin America. Nor does it take a lot of understanding to know that the absolute genetic identity and the percentage of unmixed pre-Colombian ancestry is highest in the USA's remaining

Mexicans also have family trees in communities that co-inhabited bioregions NORTH of the border. It was not the border that crossed us but the violence of Anglo settler colonialism. Enclosures drove dispossession on both sides. BTW Mexican Clan of the Navajo (Dine) Nation is the largest at 75,000+.

One of the most valuable lessons I have learned over five seasons of The Acequia Institute Next Gen Acequia Farmer internship program is to never underestimate the capacity of youth to be responsive to a challenging curriculum based on Indigenous ethnoscience and agroecology.

La sierra. Culebra Peak is the heart of our watershed common lands, the 1847 Sangre de Cristo Land Grant. At 80,000 acres this is likely the largest restored common land on the planet.

Opinion | How Trump’s federal funding pause hurts American farmers and drives up grocery prices How the administration's funding freeze threatens the infrastructure that keeps rural communities — and everyday America — running.

Red state farmers hit hard by impoundment of appropriated funds. Some involve end-stream cuts that were reimbursements for farmers' investing in things like soil amendments and solar energy systems. Let's see if they learn from this experience.
