I like to celebrate #WorldBookDay with my annual clear out of book related tote bags.

There cannot possibly be a published writer anywhere on the planet in need of a branded tote bag.

There is either an owl outside my hotel window or a creepy man making owl noises.

You will find me doing absolutely nothing this evening aside from lying in bed drinking delicious French wine out of a toothbrush mug

I’ve been in Niort, France all week running writing workshops with the students of Lycée Jean Macé. They were such a warm, generous and creative bunch of young people, a real testament to this bunch of brilliant English teachers who’ve clearly invested a lot in them.

What To Expect When You're Expecting A Book — Jan Carson Here are ten things you might expect to feel in the run up to the launch of your book.

Terrific piece by @jancarsonwrites.bsky.social on what to expect when your book is about to be unleashed upon an unsuspecting public (and on suspecting family and friends). www.jancarson.co.uk/blog/what-to...

Had such a brilliant evening chatting to Sebastien from Librairie des Halles in Niort this evening. Thanks to all the lovely French readers who came along.

I wrote about managing your expectations in the run up to publishing a book, (very flippantly)

Did anyone else just get an email from a publisher offering to pay £200 for a positive blurb on a forthcoming novel? The words fresh and hell spring to mind

Should not have been so cocky with my French… Am consequently enjoying a ‘delicious’ lukewarm Americano. I don’t know what I told the barista

Writing a novel is not necessarily difficult.

Finding the time and money to be able to write a novel, however, is very difficult.
