Once my leave started, I was automatically logged out of all my work accounts so I couldn’t even be tempted to work. When I return, I will work part-time for a month and use my unlimited PTO to continue receiving my full salary.

With Baby 2, I qualified for CA benefits (receiving 60-70% of my salary for ~20 weeks). My work then supplemented those benefits so I received 100% of my salary for ~12 of those weeks. I was also able to go on leave 2 weeks before my due date…

I could either return to work 1-week PP, or pay out of pocket for a sub ($100/day). Six weeks of leave would have cost me $2,500 plus medical bills. However, since schools went virtual for COVID right before I delivered, I actually got *zero* leave and continued teaching online for 2 months.

With Baby 1, I worked until my delivery date (making lesson plans while in labor). My district offered 12 weeks unpaid job protection. I would receive pay only by using my accrued sick leave. I had 7 sick days left because I used most of them while I was pregnant + teaching full time with HG…

I’m not using New Year’s as motivation to accomplish a bunch of new goals. It’s cold, I’m still hibernating. January-March is time to envision and set intentions for the rest of the year. Once spring comes, I’ll be ready to tackle the goals I’ve prepared for.

It's so embarrassing to be rich and not happy. If I had $200 billion I wouldn't be trying to impress Joe Rogan with my tough boy talk, I'd be jousting on jet skis, I'd be paying church choirs to sing dirty words, I'd buy one of the really big Lego sets. Being an angry rich guy is so cringe.

I think babies are born with infinite knowledge but no way to communicate it. Whenever I make eye contact with my baby I swear she’s trying to tell me something
