How To Turbo Charge Your Tactics w/ GM Mykhaylo Oleksiyenko | Dojo Talks
YouTube video by ChessDojo How To Turbo Charge Your Tactics w/ GM Mykhaylo Oleksiyenko | Dojo Talks

When there is the discussion about the tactics, solving puzzles & ideas related to make it more efficient I jump in immediately. Most of such discussions are useless, pointless and/or waste of my time!

There is an expection therefore I share the link ๐Ÿ˜

Speedrun to 2000 (from 1200) - rapid games (10+0)

Speedrun to 2000 (from 1200) - rapid games (10+0)

I was curious how many games are needed to reach 2000 at rapid time control (normally I only play blitz & bullet at chesscom) ๐Ÿคซ

Starting level 1200 & the goal (destination) 2000
Platform: chesscom. Tested 2 days ago

It took 22 games, however I estimated it would be 30-35 ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿง

How I would study chess if I could start over
YouTube video by Hanging Pawns How I would study chess if I could start over

I especially love these type of videos when the player who devoted a lot of time and tested out many ideas, shares what and how it should be done - if you could start learning chess from the scratch!

What about that? Do you like such videos, too? ๐Ÿค”

Chess coaches & players argue how many checkmate patterns one must know. What is your number? Can you explain why?๐Ÿค”

Beginners have a lot of issues after they just started playing chess. One of the problems is the captures hierarchy. Why? Because nobody explains that & without it you cannot become a strong chess player! ๐Ÿคซ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Can you pass the test I prepared for you?๐Ÿ˜„

It would be great if Matt played more OTB games - preferrably rapid ones, to see (feel) the difference between online and OTB games & to get more experience. I believe he will do that at some point as he wants to become a chess master (NM) and it is necessary to play OTB games in order to achieve it

DRIVING OFF THE KING from the bad into the right corner by using the same concept

The key positions when the King is driven from the bad corner into the right one (Bishop colour)

The closer to the right corner the less defensive lines you need to know

The weaker the defence the easier & faster you can reach the goal (mate) as you need to use only 2 ideas!

What about that guys?

14.03.2025 16:05 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

From my experience it seems like it depends on a few factors: 1) the tempo of the game, 2) the level of the opponents 3) the familiarity & complexity of the positions we reach, 4) the focus and concentration, 5) the type of the position we excel & reach, 6) other factors we do not control

14.03.2025 13:18 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

If you can (& wish) to elaborate on that more, I would be more then happy to comment.

For now I can say that tactics helped me to get to reach 1500: then I needed basics of strategy to learn. After that (1750) I needed endgames (1900) & againt tactics (2000), then strategy (2100) and now I am 2200
