Lord I’d be a complete mess sitting there with my lunch as he said endless kindness after kindness, wanting nothing in return. Asking questions about my job and family, validating everything about me, actually caring. We need a Fred Rogers today more than anything. The world aches for this.

In all seriousness, think about how it would go for someone like me who watched him as a small child in the 80s. He’d say how proud he was, how much you’d done and what an impact you’ve had. All of it genuine without even knowing you. He just flat out loved people and said it to their faces.

My kids had some recent school essay about what historical person they’d like to have lunch with, living or dead, and they asked me who I’d choose. Without hesitation, the answer was/is Fred Rogers. Truly the best of us. I mean… just watch this video and try not to get emotional.
