Another workshop in the same festival was with Billy Jenkins. This involved us putting on boxing gear and punching each other in the face for a minute before sparring musically while the blood pounded in our ears.

Indeed! A guitar workshop where half the attendees were A Band members. I took my bowed Fire Exit sign, which Hans loved! He made everyone duet with me. At the end, a teenage lad asked what pedals he used w the daxophone. "I use only the wolume pedal."

Simple black-and-white line drawings of six things - fish, naked woman, pacifier, caterpillar, cow, train - are recursively combined into one meta-object in a descending funnel-shaped diagram. Each object is labelled in French, and the words are also combined. Poisson, pucelle, suçon, chenille, cache, machine becomes "Poisucevamachenille."

Every so often I'm reminded of this drawing by Antonin Artaud, made while interned at a psychiatric hospital. It appears unattributed in a book on schizophrenia by psychoanalyst Silvano Arieti, illustrating the unique hyper logic of the schizophrenic mind.
