Letter from Dan Ryan Dear Portlanders, Let’s be honest. Like many of you, I’ve been reflecting on President Trump’s decision to send the military to Portland. At the same time, I have been taking an objective inventory of the current state of our city. This I know is true: We don’t want to live in a country where the President sends in troops against the wishes our federal delegates in Congress, Governor Tina Kotek, Mayor Keith Wilson and local elected officials—of which I am one.
