Federal Statistical System

Government spending is critical to the functioning of our economy. I wish this country as a whole would really understand this.

Here's what those core agencies are, btw:

Imagine if their budgets were doubled. Imagine just how regularly and granular we could get data. No more year plus delays between data releases. Many more data tables become available/unrestricted. Governments getting far more accurate data to utilize for planning and policy.

The federal statistical agencies that are critical for government and private planning, get a measly 0.012% of GDP in funding; that's 0.05% of federal government spending. A great example of how much of a massive economic boost government spending can be (and is).

Renting is a perfectly fine option for obtaining shelter. I really wish American society didn't demonize it do much.

mysafespace We're Democrats in the House and Senate. We love DEI, transgender for everyone, healthcare for illegals and shutting down the government! We couldn't care less if our military gets paid or Americans' ...

The #Trump administration has just made this website:

Yes, this is an official government website. There is no excuse to be voting Republican. Meanwhile: They refuse to immediately release court ordered emergency funds to ensure 42M people can be fed.

Disgusting.

The most annoying thing about this government shutdown for me, is the lack of government data availability.

Finally finding detailed data I've been looking for, and I can't download it or view it because the website(s) just aren't updating or loading in, lol.

If you want more public and non-profit housing, you have to pay much higher taxes for them; not just "the rich and wealthy". European countries didn't get the public and non-profit housing they have by just mandating private companies to build it; they did it with very high taxes and spending.

Republicans aren't the problem when you get to the state level. The problem is that Democrats have completely forgotten about the fact that states have an enormous amount of power over people's quality of life.

Democrats hold 41/63 and 102/150 seats in the New York State Senate and House respectively.

Democrats hold 30/40 and 60/80 seats in the California Senate and House respectively.

Democrats hold 35/40 and 135/160 seats in the Massachusetts Senate and House respectively.

And this is coming from somebody who openly supports a unitary USA over a federal one.

Same sort of problem here in the states. States have considerable or even complete control over:

- Transportation

- Education

- Childcare

- Public safety

- Utilities

- Housing

- Minimum wages

- Labor laws

- Economic development

- Urban/Rural development

- Cultural institutions

- Tourism

There's a far leftist that is obsessed with getting my attention now lol. They look at every social media site I am on, and my activity in these places.

I know you will see this: Hello! Enjoying the life of pain and suffering from being in a constant state of rage? I'm enjoying your obsession, lol.

Please do not be like this, people. This country has enough ignorance as is; don't be people like this who only work to make it worse, and therefore our problems worse.

13.10.2025 07:56 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

When you consider your own sources as suddenly invalid when they say things you don't like, despite using the very same sources to try to prove an earlier claim, then you're not actually serious about resolving problems you claim to care about. That shows how seriously your comments should be taken.

13.10.2025 07:56 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

In case you need more proof of why willful ignorance is bad. They're rejecting the truthfulness of their own sources now, and are instead leaning on the words of a politician they happen like.

And you've got the blatant anti-intellectualism too; disregarding actual research done by experts.

The Goldilocks problem of housing supply: Too little, too much, or just right? | Brookings Learning how markets like Nashville have achieved better balance between supply and demand may yield insights into how to help less balanced regions.

Here's some actual academic research done on the housing crisis; for those who wish to actually understand what's going on.

This here, is a great example of what willful ignorance looks like.

Sourcing commentary articles and opinion pieces, is not proof of anything. If those who are actually serious about learn why a problem exists, and how to resolve the problem: Do proper research into stuff; not read populist news.

13.10.2025 07:47 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Given that I am well aware what happens when I engage with willful ignorance, I'm just gonna move on. Please learn how to do research on something before speaking about it.

Bye.

California must get serious about housing supply in 2020 California must get serious about adding more housing supply in 2020. The Legislature must pass Senate Bill 50. Without it, the economy will suffer.

I've sourced actual academic research. And you've responded with news articles. This is the problem with this country.

Your own sources acknowledge that supply is the problem here.

Community land trusts are just one step behind full on government ownership of land. We need to start treating all land as a public asset. We need to do several things:

- Instate a Land Value Tax
- Liberalize Zoning
- Provide cheap loans for housing construction

Housing crisis resolved; forever.

State secession is not happening.

States seceding will not make anybody richer.

There is no such thing as a blue or red state.

Please stop with this pipedream of blue states forming their own utopias please.

If we lived in a sensible world, local governments would be aligned along the census defined metropolitan and micropolitan areas. Rural areas without such a delineation, would be combined into rural regional governments, or left as they currently are.

This would leave us with 2,239 local govts max.

01.08.2025 10:36 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

The USA is overly localized. In my state alone, there are 3,400 local governments. 3,400.

In the USA as a whole, there are over 90,000 local governments. I don't think people understand just how severely kneecapping this level of fracturing is to our ability to effectively do crap on this country.

We already have a wealth of data at our disposal that explicitly tracks such statistics. It's readily available to everyone, and it's already used in policy making decisions.

If anybody wants to know what a real #HSR proposal looks like, here are some proposals below:

pedestrianobservations.com/wp-content/u...

Maybe IF the more central parts of this country ever gets more populated, we could eventually end up with a continent spanning #HSR #transportation network.
