When I look at the blue day sky
I feel connected to the Earth.
I feel large.
I feel grounded.

When I Iook at the black night sky
I feel connected to the Universe.
I feel small.
I feel wonder.

Peace Poem for October 7th

I am not sure I believe in God.
Maybe I just believe in the earth,the sky,the sea,the trees.
So
I imagine
that they say to me:
"All lives are sacred.
Everything is sacred.
We are all knit from
the same thread.
Humans PLEASE stop killing your kids."

Has it been 24 years?
No, actually MUCH longer.
All human history is
bloodshed again and again.
True,we know how to be kind.
And --sometimes-- we ARE.
BUT we MUST learn,before it is too late:
that violence solves nothing.
As Dr. King said,we must become
Beloved Community.

Killing leads only to more killing
Destruction, to more destruction
Violence, to more violence.
To end it we must pivot
in another direction.
Love each other.
That is what all the world's religions teach!
The problem is nobody listens.

He does it because

Dozens of women stand weekly
on the sidewalk outside the mall.
Young white men,
always in trucks, drive by,
engines loud,
clenched fists high,
"Trump Trump Trump" is their call,
defiant masculinity.
We never lose our serenity.

The rainbow crosswalk
near the Pulse nightclub,
part of the Pulse
memorial, was painted out
by the state of Florida.
But people who came and chalked the rainbow back in.
LGBTQIA people cannot be erased.

Call this senator!

So I shut off my phone,
Make a cup of tea,my heart tells me what tiny thing I must do today. And I follow my "must".
