In PM’s Morning Report segment yesterday, Luxon was asked 3 times whether he believes trickle down economics works. As usual, he didn’t answer the question, however his deflective responses indicates he believe that it will magically work.

Yeah I'm calling utter BS on that one.
Strong 'you didn't tell us this would be in the exam' vibes.

The “NZ can’t afford to have nice things” voices would be out in force.
NZ chooses (via elections) not to have nice things for political reasons. Either through fear, short-term thinking or self-interest.
Luxon and National had a golden opportunity with the RSB to show they listened and cared about what voters thought
Success in politics shouldn’t just be measured on election day. Sadly it’s the only one the media wants us to care about. #nzpol
You presume correct!

Flip Grater has nailed it.
“This Government’s decisions - in a shockingly apparent and unapologetic way - are focused entirely on short-term gain and greed. And the result is an economy in tatters and an environment in grave danger.”

Wonder what this heat map of Australia will mean for AoNZ weather in the coming days / weeks?

In the UK’s case, it’ll be anywhere else that doesn’t have toxic rhetoric from the govt and in many media outlets.

Until govts prioritise funding public health systems (pay well, realistic resourcing and invest in workforce planning and training), there will be a dependency on overseas trained staff to fill gaps. And even they are going to leave for better places.
In NZ’s case that Australia and beyond.

Here's weekly jobs data as per. Sliding sideways, ready for a quick summer boost, then what??
There is not enough demand in the economy. Lower interest rates are terrible stimulus. If only we had a Govt with half a clue. (2/2)
It was phenomenal. We were at the Show and watching the Grand Parade, before retreating to the Livestock Pavillion when the thunderstorm began. Absolutely deafening in the shed once the hail started.
At least the sun came out for the ride home.
If she means the rate of inflation is falling, that means that prices are continuing to rise, but just more slowly than before.
She’s relying on economic illiteracy here.
NZ govt going hard out on not wanting to deal with impacts of climate change.

interesting viewpoint that has touched a chord.
The enemy of cynicism and passivity is curiosity, optimism, agency and possibility.
Meanwhile NZ struggles with an energy-price crisis ... a little policy creativity and innovation could make a massive difference to cost of living and productivity.
