Explain to us again exactly why farmers should pay half the IHT that the rest of the of the UK population must pay. You do also know that Clarkson bought his land/farm to avoid IHT? He said so himself.Tax concessions all round down on the farm!

Envy? I am ‘productive’ (teacher) in a completely different way to a farmer. But I do not get the tax breaks on land owned, my heirs will pay the full 40% IHT, and I do not falsely plead poverty in the middle of London!

If they are genuinely ‘small’ farmers, their heirs will not be paying IHT, so what are family farmers ‘cross’ about? JC, Dyson etc are just using them as useful idiots.

But the issue is IHT. If JC’s heirs inherit £3M+ they will be in top 2% wealthy, and will still only pay 20%. Under £3M, no IHT paid and still probably super rich.
