On a blue background, white text quote from Sol Oyuela, WaterAid's Executive Director for Global Policy and Campaigns, responds to the COP30 outcome:
“Far more needs to be done, and it is deeply frustrating, and frankly dangerous, that the wider package agreed fails those most impacted by climate change. Progress cannot stall here: we need clear increases in finance, tangible adaptation actions and a step-change in ambition on mitigation.
“The climate crisis won’t pause for geopolitics. The floods, droughts and cyclones intensified by a warming world demand to be confronted now, not passed on to future generations.
“Now we have the framework, we need the finance to implement it. We urge the international community to harness the momentum of the past two weeks, regroup, and triple adaptation finance so we can close the financing gap.
“Millions of lives, livelihoods - and the legacy we leave behind - hang in the balance.”
"Some progress made - but a frustrating and dangerous standstill on climate action and finance."
After two weeks, lengthy negotiations at #COP30 have finally come to a close.

Country Diary: These cliffs are more unstable than ever | Sara Hudston
West Bay, Dorset: People have lost their lives here, even long before the wetter weather we have now. So I keep my distance from the edge
Walked along the beach at the bottom of these cliffs last week … stuck very close to the water, but won’t be doing it again in a hurry. Heartbreaking that huge swathes of our beautiful coastline are being lost to the sea.

The (self-imposed) pressure to do a “perfect” first post on here is overwhelming, so here’s a very pleasing autumnal display from @nationaltrust.bsky.social Gibside to break the ice.
Hello, everyone :)
