I bought a stereo a couple of weeks back. Listening to all my old CDs. So much great music. So many memories.

I forgot (in a sense) just how many New Order songs I loved.

Only 19/24. Sad.

Yeah it is pretty wild. Mainly on the back of GPUs for AI and language models. Kind of a bummer to be a gamer. LOL

Writing my first ever 100% theoretical paper. How exciting!!

I mean I think the work is sound just not sure how to write it up.

I am starting to feel like an expert again. Particularly in grammatical inference. I really do know quite a bit about this stuff.

Speaking of jam, I don't get jam often, but when I do I always end up buying this one that I think I will like, but I don't actually like because I keep thinking the one I don't like is actually a different brand. LOL

Also, I told the math story today at Pearle Vision. They laughed.

You can get the same stuff off Temu that you can buy in some stores though too. It takes some sifting and you have to be willing to wait, but you can save a lot of money.

I have a keen sense of direction so I don't get lost often. The only time I got kind of lost was in when I was the conference in Spain. The old city streets got me turned around (also almost got run over by a cab because I thought cobble streets were for pedestrians... oops).

The paper by Sabine and I on using language models for question generation was nominated for Best Paper at the 2025 Intelligent Tutoring Systems conference!

It is so much work conducting research and writing a paper. It just feels great to have it recognized in any way at all.

Back when I was doing my PhD, my supervisor used to call our weekly meeting the "Jason Entertainment Hour." Because I usually pretty prepared, and had something to present and/or argue. Working with him again I feel like the "Jason Entertainment Hour" is back on the air!

I'm very excited to be working on some theoretical CS with my former PhD supervisor @interestingmonkey.bsky.social!

I've been smiling ever since he answered my email with his thoughts. We work so well together! And to make a break into theory is exciting!

I have some smart home stuff. Echo and some smart switches. Definitely useful.

Easy for you to say. I'm quite sure you could not memorize five words and repeat them back. I mean can you imagine how hard that would be? Almost impossible unless you have the best brain and are a stable genius.

I know I've said this a lot but I can listen to "Echoes of the Infinite" for hours. It is like listening to my soul. It fills me with joy and sorrow, all at the same time. I honestly not sure I will ever compose anything that speaks to me personally as vividly.

Packing is just Tetris with consequences.
