Margaret Lockwood in 1800s/early 1900s fashion with a large hat, gown and parasol
This October, I'm continuing my tradition of stars at costume parties:

Diana Lynn, Betty Hutton, Dorothy Lamour, Mimi Chandler sing around a piano while Fred MacMurray smiles in the background.
This week's Musical Monday features a singing sister quartet. The film introduced a song that Betty Hutton became associated with for the remainder of her career. Critics like Bosley Crowther, note Hutton as the bright spot of this film. Full review here:

You're right! As a big ole squeamish scaredy cat, I don't love horror, but this one is interesting.
Larry Cohen is a better filmmaker than I think he was given credit. This also has an interesting message (according to Cohen himself) of "what if your child turns out to be a monster"

It's fun so much when my soul sister, @raquelstecher.bsky.social, and I end up going down a research rabbit hole together to learn more about an actor who was in two films.

A picture of June Collyer and Stuart Erwin paper dolls promoting their TV show
Mom and I went to a doll show today. I was tempted by a Sonja Henie, Margaret O'Brien and Dynasty dolls (both Linda Evans and Joan Collins).
But instead I only got these Stuart Erwin and June Collyer paper dolls. I love Stuart Erwin so much.

Tom Laughlin in a white dinner jacket and Peggy Moffitt in a black evening dress and white gloves
The most interesting aspect of this week's Musical Monday is seeing future model Peggy Moffitt slink on and off the screen in a small role. Otherwise, the characters are hard to root for, and the songs don’t leave much of an impression.

Before her acting career, Ali McGraw was a model. One of her first modeling jobs was at age 19 when she was attending Wellesley College. She was selected to be on the cover of the Aug. 1958 College issue of Mademoiselle Magazine.
