Just when you think it can't possibly get any worse, Trump happens, again and again.

We've always been far from perfect, but at least there was a time when we made some effort to get better.

They were between a rock and a hard place. I agree that Trump wasn't going to give on ACA and the plight of those without SNAP benefits, or federal workers without paychecks simply could be ignored.

He's not going to give it back, is he?

I served back in the 70s/80s. Things have changed, a lot, since then.

When I served, while this country was not perfect by any means, we were trying to be better. Yes, in justice, in compassion, in being a better people. We failed, often, but kept trying. Was I naive? Maybe so.

I served this country for 14 years and this is what we've become?

I also see Senate Republican are bringing up conditions now to extending ACA as well.

What I can't quite figure out is, if Trump thinks SCOTUS has been given the wrong numbers, why doesn't he direct his team to give them the correct numbers?

Patriotism doesn't put bread on the table. Those jobs are difficult enough without having to worry because you aren't getting paid.

I rather think Schumer will weather the storm quite nicely with all the benefits he gets. The rest of us, not so much.

I wish our government felt the same way.

On the one hand I can understand the desire to get SNAP funds and paychecks flowing again but, on the other hand, we're screwed no matter what. Classic rock crushes against hard place.

Can someone, anyone, explain to me how giving money to us to use to deal one on one with health insurance companies is better than participating in pools that are negotiated by the government with the insurance companies?
