From lived experience to policy, safety must be structural, not symbolic. If this field grows without clear standards, who bears the risk?

02.03.2026 17:06 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Most patients and trial participants Iβve interviewed say integration didnβt happen in-session. It unfolded in the months that followed, quietly, and sometimes disruptively. Thatβs the layer we canβt afford to overlook.
27.02.2026 15:59 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0As someone who has lived this system from the inside, Iβve seen the difference between being consulted and being heard. The future of this field depends on turning listening into structure, not symbolism.

One small structural shift could change this: automatically notifying participants when results are published, in clear, accessible language.
Respect is not only about consent at the beginning of a study. It is also about communication at the end.
Closing the loop builds trust.
One keeps coming up across participants is that safety is not just clinical competence. It is relational competence.
And it doesnβt end when the session ends. Balancing deep therapeutic process with work, family, & daily life is part of the outcome story too but it's unmeasured.
Sometimes what institutions attend to differs from what participants actually experience. That gap matters.
23.02.2026 16:39 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thank you, Will. I hope we continue to hear more nuanced stories as the field matures.
20.02.2026 18:33 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0If we want safer and more durable models of care, lived experience canβt remain anecdotal. It has to become structural.
19.02.2026 21:22 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thank you, Jana for sharing so openly about your powerful group experience. Itβs a strong example of how these novel treatments can be supportive when delivered professionally, with care, and within a thoughtful community setting.
18.02.2026 18:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Researchers and clinicians: what would it take to meaningfully integrate lived experience into your current workflow?
17.02.2026 17:54 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Some trial participants that Iβve interviewed have also mentioned wanting more agency when it comes to what music and how much music during dosing sessions.

12.02.2026 18:20 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0When practiced well with a properly trained therapist, experiencing fear safely is one of the best features of this novel treatment.
11.02.2026 16:28 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Good clinical science starts by listening to those it aims to serve.
10.02.2026 15:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Dialing up the method without the medicine is a powerful line to remember during prep sessions. Thanks Julia for sharing your wisdom.
09.02.2026 16:01 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Accessibility has always been central to this summit, which is why we made it virtual and free to attend. Those able to purchase an All Access Pass could also fund a scholarship for someone who couldnβt otherwise access the full program. Thank you to everyone who paid it forward.
24.12.2025 17:06 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That line really landed...the contrast between whatβs discussed in conference hallways versus what makes it onto the stage says a lot about whatβs still missing from the conversation. Thank you, Sandeep, for naming it so clearly.

Do you work in psychedelic clinical research?
In this short Behind the Scenes Update (Dec 20, 2025), our founder and director, Pedram Dara @pedramdara.bsky.social, shares how a new initiative is taking shape following conversations from the first-ever Psychedelic Lived Experiences Summit.
Listening isnβt optional. Itβs foundational.
22.12.2025 17:10 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Looking forward to launching a small pilot for this program early in 2026 with a select group of organizations from pharma, academia, and hopefully IRBs.

18.12.2025 19:22 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thank you, Anne, for naming this. While not all hospital settings are the same, I can see how they can feel like a battlefield for some. Iβve seen thoughtful alternatives, for example, the space Dr Emma Hapke created in Toronto feels more like a cozy loft than a hospital room.
17.12.2025 18:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Number 1 and 2 are stronger. Number 3 needs much more attention.

Shout out to everyone who shows up with integrity, cares for others, and holds this field to a higher standard. Youβre building the field we all want to see.
13.12.2025 20:44 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Hereβs to a healing process that prioritizes partnerships with the same care and rigor we give to protocols.
12.12.2025 15:21 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thank you, Tony, for sharing this. Youβve done a clinical trial in a retreat setting which seems to be much more fitting for these folks to create that sense of community. Incredible work.

Which psychedelic training program has invested in lived experience representation at the same level as its clinical and academic faculty? If one exists, it deserves recognition.
