@helink.bsky.social was made aware that Emma & others were making untrue statements to JMG. Was he too busy complaining about lies on x/twitter to ensure @icr.ac.uk staff were acting with integrity in a way that would stand up to scrutiny?

It looks to me as though Emma deliberately sought to mislead the EIC. Especially when taken together with other misleading communications to the EIC. What possible ethical reason accounts for ICR failing to allow such an independent investigation for ~10 months?

In fact the author had engaged, explaining that at this late stage (after months of delay and ignoring the complaint) only an independent assessment of author contributions in line with UKRIO guidelines could resolve the matter.

If nothing else, everybody at @icr.ac.uk will know who not to trust and journals will know who at ICR takes liberties with the truth. Science fraud starts with people stretching the truth a little.

As @icr.ac.uk claim to “[Act] with integrity: We promote an *open* and honest environment that gives credit and acknowledges mistakes, so that our actions stand up to scrutiny.” I look forward to sharing in the open some of their published falsehoods along with their official response. 🔦

Just remember that ICR bullies and discriminates and covers it up. Has been doing it for decades. Nothing has changed. Does not consider misleading an integrity investigation worthy of investigation. So don’t be surprised when your PI plagiarises your work.

And the reason I pointed out publishers is because I had thought, perhaps naively, that they acted as a check in the system, and so was quite shocked to discover that they often don't.
