A coastal view at low tide on a sunny and bright December afternoon at St.Bees beach, St.Bees, Cumbria, England. It features a long stretch of sand and pebbles bordered by the dramatic red sandstone cliffs of St Bees Head. The beach in the foreground has distinctive rippled sand and behind this are many rocks in shallow water. Behind this the beach continues into the distance with the red sandstone sea cliffs above it. The blue sky has light, wispy clouds and contrails. It serves as the starting point for the famous 190-mile Wainwright's "Coast to Coast" Walk across England.

Early stroll. The availability of birdsong. One day I’ll sit and count all those fallen leaves. Morning is opening across the sky. Curtained light from a bedroom window. A green watering can, almost invisible in a garden.

Went to see The Virgins at the Soho Theatre, it felt like if The Inbetweeners had been based around young women. If I was nearer to my teens, I would probably have found it funny & well observed. Chinatown & light at the rear of St Martin in he Fields on the way back to Charing Cross.

It was wind chill that was the issue here, a good 10° warmer than you had this morning!

Wednesday was t shirt weather, but it was back to a winter base layer for Catford #parkrun. A bit less wheezy than last week, so a minute or so quicker, winning the Jerry Lee Lewis trophy for the best ‘Great Balls of Fire’ themed outfit. Course check before.

First timers welcome

Catford #parkrun 338 saw 178 finishers in cold, muddy, slippery conditions - there were 27 1st timers, with six doing their very first parkrun. Despite the conditions 10 managed PBs! As always, a massive thank you to the 31 volunteers who made it all happen!

At Home with the Gil Scotts, Deptford Heron Watch 2025/26 Season (7) Uncertainty - the new nest is being visited by parents (as is the old one) but I couldn’t make out any sign of young beaks or feeding, that may have been because crows were attacking the adults.
