Two Labradors one cream and one black, descending the path down Great Mell Fell through a copse of Larch, Pine, Hawthorn. Snow lies on the ground as does much ice ! In the far distance the mountains are covered in snow.

No there are some trees and plantations see attached pic from other side. Years of mining(slate, lead, stone) and over grazing with sheep have taken their toll. This land is generally not great for crops as there is lots of boggy land, it's a rural area with a scattering of small hill farms.

Todays hill wanders were up Great Mell Fell in the Lake District providing us with some spectacular views of a snow covered Blencathra. Willow and Freya the labradors awaiting treats

todays visit/walk was to Rydal Caves (Man made caverns on Loughrigg Fell in the #LakeDistrict created in the 18th/19th century for slate mining, specifically known as Loughrigg Quarry). This cavern for those interested was featured in Season2 of The Witcher (Netflix)
