Cover art by Ben Baldwin shows a creature crouching in a low tunnel entrance lined with grey stones and partly hidden by green undergrowth and white flowers. The creature has pale skin covered in sparse black hair and it looks a bit like an ape, a bit like a bear, and completely unlike either of those.

Book extract reads: I listened to the soft rustle of paper and Fin making faint noises of surprise and approval as she found something interesting. Then I heard something else. I opened my eyes.
Fin was staring at me, concerned. ‘Was that a cat?’
‘I don’t know.’ I sat up and put my mug on the table. ‘A bird, maybe?’
We sat and listened. We heard the noise again.
‘That’s not a cat.’ Fin dropped the leaflet she was reading into the wicker basket and stood up. ‘Whatever it is, do you think it’s hurt?’
‘It’s out the back.’ I got to my feet. Something about the noise had sent a shiver down my spine. ‘Where are the keys?’
‘On the mantelpiece.’ Fin was already heading for the kitchen.
I grabbed them and followed her. ‘Wait for me.’
Fin stepped to one side in the little lobby so I could unlock the back door. I opened up cautiously. I was ready to slam the door shut, using my whole body weight to hold it closed until I could lock it, if something unfriendly was out there.
There was no danger of that. I opened the door wider as Fin and I looked down with disbelief.

Finished listening to Nghi Vo's The City in Glass yesterday. I didn't really love The Chosen and the Beautiful, but this one worked so much better for me overall. The story of a demon, her city, and the angel who both destroys and helps rebuild over the centuries is lovely. 📚💙

There is too much negativity around romance in fantasy, though no one complains about sci-fi. Probably because there is no fancy portmanteau like Romantasy for it. Read what you like, and celebrate it. Hopefully, that will be my book. #writingcommunity #booksky

I’m a 400-500 pages girl. Under 400 I tend to feel that stories are rushed or over too soon and over 500 I feel they drag.

But most importantly, a book should be whatever length it takes to tell the story

“Operation Starward” by Ryder Tombs

“Operation Starward” by Ryder Tombs

Intergalactic romance…

“Operation Starward” is the longest piece of fiction from author Ryder Tombs and it’s his best. Emotionally developed characters and an intriguing story kept me reading. The mixture of queer romance in a science fiction setting is wonderfully refreshing. So, if you’re looking for a thoughtful literary escape, “Operation Starward” is the book for you!

Drafted in the aftermath of World War II, the UDHR is one of the most influential documents in modern history, establishing the idea that every human being — regardless of origin, identity, faith, or circumstance — deserves dignity, freedom, and protection.

Pansexual Pride Day: Why December 8 Deserves Recognition, Celebration, and Visibility Pansexual Pride Day, observed every year on December 8, is one of the most essential — and too often overlooked — celebrations on the LGBTQIA+ calendar. This day is dedicated to honoring pansexual identity, uplifting the pan community, dispelling myths, and creating visibility for a sexual orientation that many people still misunderstand. In a world where labels can both liberate and confound, Pansexual Pride Day provides clarity, connection, and a space for pan folks to be seen fully, without apology.

Why Recognizing World AIDS Day Remains a Vital Act of Solidarity, Memory, and Global Justice World AIDS Day arrives every year on December 1st, and while the date may stay the same, the world it lands in continues to change. What hasn’t changed, darling, is its importance. Recognizing World AIDS Day is not just a ritual, not a commemorative habit, and certainly not an optional social-justice accessory you pull out once a year like a holiday sweater.

Transgender Day of Remembrance: Honoring Lives, Fueling Change, and Holding Hope Every year on November 20, communities across the world gather to mark Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR)—a day to honor the lives of transgender and gender-diverse people who have been lost to acts of anti-trans violence. The day is solemn, quiet, and deeply necessary. It reminds us of the ongoing cost of prejudice and the urgent need for empathy and change.
