A big part of the authoritarian playbook is war. War takes over the news. War blots out criticism. War divides a nationβs people, subjecting those against it to being called unpatriotic. War grants leaders all sorts of emergency powers. War consumes everything else.
We mustnβt let this war do so.
Not to mention .... his Kremlin handlers are incredibly happy with the price spike while they are condemning the war.

Text: The American people are once again dragged into a war they did not want by a president who does not care about the long-term consequences of his actions. This war is unlawful. It is unnecessary. And it will be catastrophic. Just this week, Iran and the United States were negotiating key measures that could have staved off war. The President walked away from these discussions and chose war instead. President Trump flippantly acknowledged the possibility of American casualties, stating "that often happens in war.β Mr. President: this was not an inevitability. This is a deliberate choice of aggression when diplomacy and security were within reach. Stop lying to the American people. Violence begets violence. We learned this lesson in Iraq. We learned this lesson in Afghanistan. And we are about to learn it again in Iran. Bombs have yet to create enduring democracies in the region and this will be no different. In moments of war, our Constitution is unambiguous: Congress authorizes war. The President does not. I will do my part to uphold our Constitution by voting YES on Representatives Ro Khanna and Thomas Massie's War Powers Resolution. Every member of Congress must join us in rejecting this aimless war.

Spot on, @bobkopp.net.
ββ¦saving American climate scienceβand American science in generalβrequires that the community discard the myth of political neutrality, engage in a concerted defense of liberal democracy, and stand in solidarity with this administrationβs other targets.β
Four weeks would be substantially longer than my base case and pose enormous risks of more serious damage to regional oil assets.
A month of seriously throttled Hormuz traffic would be A LOT of barrels, and a month of bombing could push Tehran to go after GCC production facilities
The Daily Show reminded us in the montage below how Netanyahu has LIED about the "imminent" threat of Iran obtaining nuclear weapons since 1995. Netanyahu has for years wanted US to bomb Iran. Netanyahu simply found in Trump a moron willing to sacrifice Americans for his cause:

Our NY climate law is NOT the main cause of inflation in energy prices: US exports of LNG play a far larger role. Read this and more in Susan Arbetter's write up of the Spectrum TV interview she recently did with me.

U.S. military spending is set to hit a record $1.5 trillion.
Roughly half of defense spending goes to private contractors that routinely price-gouge the government.
Meanwhile, the Pentagon has failed EIGHT straight audits.
The military industrial complex is cheering today.
