excellent. What is the recipe? I do Jane Grigson from English Food, which my family unkindly call The Widowmaker. It has a density slightly greater than plutonium.

Trump lashes out at women because theyโ€™re the ones brave enough to ask questions & stand up to him. And deep down this absolutely terrifies him. Because underneath all the years of bluster, fury & recriminationsโ€”he knows theyโ€™re right

If BBC pays a cent to Trump ...it will be the biggest hit to their credibility as a news org - Henry Mance in today's FT.

anyone who spells an excellent Scottish name like that is clearly deeply unsound and all his views should be ignored.

I think this is about pragmatism. Much as I loathe the current cowering terrified BBC, to apologise puts him on the back foot. They have admitted an error (I agree it wasn't). Part of his desperate flailing is to distract from vote on Tues. Whatevs, govt must back BBC and we must not cave.

all you say is true, it was grim, partic if you were a young girl. Otoh we had no social media and a largely compliant press so had very little idea of what was really going on so did not suffer from permanent anxiety which now besets many of us.

Lord Patten 100% reflects my view, particularly the point about the dangers of this all undermining our democracy

Remember the likes of Trump and Farage want democracy gone. It doesn't serve their purpose

11.11.2025 07:17 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 24    ๐Ÿ” 15    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 2

It's muddled "balance" idea which is a major contributor. The fact that Farage, a minor MEP, was give as much airtime as the Chair of the CBI/Gov Bank/economists in the runup to Brexit. Uneven coverage of Gaza, declining in Int News coverage, endless focus on individuals, 2 GBNews execs on Board.

it was a stupid editorial error, but provided the weapon needed by BJ et al to further eviscerate what was once a beacon of unbiased news and investigative journalism. Despair.
