Yesterday, in my dreams, my PM told me we forgot / don’t have designs for when user input doesn't make sense in a specific part of the experience.

And that was actually true, so I shared it with the team, telling them how the thought came to me 😆

With regards to building webapps, it seems that AI is currently good for getting you close to the goal, leaving you to fix issues.

Not very usable for people or usecases where you are not wishing to touch code, unfortunately.

It seems that for “complicated” stuff (not using something simple like tailwind/bootstrap, or doing something other than common front-end/back-end work), it seems to struggle. Perhaps all AI struggles at this point.

I tested v0 this morning. And it disappointed. I think it’s because of my expectations. I expected to be able to prompt and not edit code. I expected it to be able to fix issues just by pointing them out. Didn’t work.

For transparency: I tried it on a messy codebase, on niche code (compared to what most people work on).

I will continue to test Cursor. I was disappointed that it wasn't helpful in this case, but I'm sure it will be helpful in others.

I tried Cursor AI (the AI code editor), and had a horrible experience. It barely got any code edit suggestions right.

Maybe it's because what I'm working on (the server for a multiplayer online game) it's not the kind of code you find online...

Some friends of us also got into it recently (albeit the online version)...

How does it do the data refreshing? I imagine this is some javascript on your client app making a request to a gpt with agood prompt to obtain a json in a specific format back? Or am I unaware of something else?

Not surprised given some experiences I've had generating mock data in ChatGPT...

Sometimes it REALLY struggles applying / following rules or logic... to the point you start feeling dumb by persevering in your attempts to helping it understand

I can see that. Iterating on tables and mock data in Figma can be so painful.

Btw, how is this approach preventing the bias towards only using clean looking data in mocks?
