Every friction or pain point in teamwork is a lesson in becoming a better work partnerβ€”if you reflect and adapt.

This year, my squad built several products from scratch and handed them off to another team. Plenty to learn from how they interacted (or not) with us. Excited to reflect and learn πŸ’™

Idea: the tip could appear conditionally if AI deems it worth showing based on current input + name of other programs

Copyright and Artificial Intelligence This consultation seeks views on how the government can ensure the UK’s legal framework for AI and copyright supports the UK creative industries and AI sector together.

UK WRITERS: You need to fill in this consulation. Govt is very clearly looking to an opt-out model of rights licensing that puts all the burden on creators instead of profiteers. It's long and boring but this is important.

From another dream, reads like a poem

Yesterday, in my dreams, my PM told me we forgot / don’t have designs for when user input doesn't make sense in a specific part of the experience.

And that was actually true, so I shared it with the team, telling them how the thought came to me πŸ˜†

Must be quite a experience! Playing a virtual world inside of a semi-virtual world

I'll be in Barcelona until Dec 8th, hit me up if you want to cowork or have coffee! β˜•οΈ

In other news, I scheduled my first meeting for 2025 (a dentist appointment) and suddenly 2025 feels real

With regards to building webapps, it seems that AI is currently good for getting you close to the goal, leaving you to fix issues.

Not very usable for people or usecases where you are not wishing to touch code, unfortunately.

It seems that for β€œcomplicated” stuff (not using something simple like tailwind/bootstrap, or doing something other than common front-end/back-end work), it seems to struggle. Perhaps all AI struggles at this point.

I tested v0 this morning. And it disappointed. I think it’s because of my expectations. I expected to be able to prompt and not edit code. I expected it to be able to fix issues just by pointing them out. Didn’t work.

For transparency: I tried it on a messy codebase, on niche code (compared to what most people work on).

I will continue to test Cursor. I was disappointed that it wasn't helpful in this case, but I'm sure it will be helpful in others.

I tried Cursor AI (the AI code editor), and had a horrible experience. It barely got any code edit suggestions right.

Maybe it's because what I'm working on (the server for a multiplayer online game) it's not the kind of code you find online...

24.11.2024 16:45 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Some friends of us also got into it recently (albeit the online version)...

Should we get into it? πŸ€”

Pokemon is cute tho

Confusing, breaks expectations in a non-delightful way. In mobile may be fine, given browser url/search bar has for a while moved to the bottom

Looks very cozy! I’ll give it a ho, since the course I’m making is about making a similar-looking kind of game. Good for inspiration!

Nice to meet you, Joseph! I’m also a Product Designer who used to be a front-end dev. And also a gamer. Got into coding for passion of making games.

I used to play Magic in the past, not anymore. Still play Pokemon TCG every now and then. Currently playing Sonic x Shadow Generations. :) You?

Only as a mentor, so far! I'm interested in using it as a mentee too. I've been focused on a personal project about making a course, hence why I haven't done that yet. I see myself wanting to hear from other to improve my ways of working, or for research for a UX book.

Totally. That's a great idea!

How does it do the data refreshing? I imagine this is some javascript on your client app making a request to a gpt with agood prompt to obtain a json in a specific format back? Or am I unaware of something else?

Not surprised given some experiences I've had generating mock data in ChatGPT...

Sometimes it REALLY struggles applying / following rules or logic... to the point you start feeling dumb by persevering in your attempts to helping it understand

22.11.2024 04:49 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I can see that. Iterating on tables and mock data in Figma can be so painful.

Btw, how is this approach preventing the bias towards only using clean looking data in mocks?
