Oh, same, on both accounts. I refuse to watch the reboot(s) for that reason. You can't beat Tim Curry.

So I know it's not actually horror, but the older Godzilla movies were a gateway for sure. My grandfather loved them, so we'd often watch them together while I visited him at his house.

In terms of actual horror movies, Stephen King's IT, which I watched when I was entirely too young.

I'm in my 30s now and still love this movie, especially as a Canadian.
