The terrain mechanic is genuinely a very cool detail though and I hope that shows up more to make some of the level design more thoughtful and not kinda brain dead

I think it fares better than odyssey level design wise but many of the bananas haven’t left a huge impression so far

The change to make progression not gated by the bananas is relatively good but I’m not sure about weaving it with the silly skill tree upgrades

The flow of smashing shit and collecting things is addicting and fun, but I feel kinda put off with how unchallenged most of it is

Bananza edging Nintendo ever closer to that one game they seem to be into as of late

real crime though is the lack of a reset the day option from the last game. lost half of my white Pikmin because they wanted to dig up grass right when the day ended

Conceptually roguelike aspects can be interesting but so much of overworlds and dungeons are so dry, even Pikmin 4 didn’t really do this any better despite bringing in Pikmin 1/3’s time management and multi-tasking problem solving

07.11.2025 23:15 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Pikmin 2 was very ahead of the time for making generic procgen dungeon crawling its whole thing like most games nowadays

still in a weird spot with doing these but I really loved Pikmin 1 that much even with the charming GameCube era jank that was sometimes frustrating lol

sleepytitan's review of Pikmin | Backloggd Surprisingly compelling and much more open-ended than I expected! Pikmin 3 and 4 to a much lesser degree made me a slight fan of the series but 1 tuned me all in even if I might be overrating it a bit...

couldn’t have asked for a better game to come back to reviewing with tbh backloggd.com/u/sleepytita...

Didn’t really find the calendar that stressful since it’s generous and you can collect many parts fast with how open ended and small the levels are. Kinda Resident Evil 1 coded but both are goated

The enemies are so ruthless to where I get the memes about Bulburbs in this game now lol

Has that GameCube jank of being a bit underbaked and annoying that was probably unintended but I’ve really grown to to love the frustrations and tensions coming off how frictionless Pikmin 4 is

Pikmin 1 is awesome but the Pikmin are so comically finicky to corral

obama ramped up the use of drone strikes (10x more than bush!) and deported a record number of immigrants. he helped maintain and expand the systems trump is now using to do his crimes

first of all, fuck gandhi. But secondly.

WE SPENT MONTHS IN 2020 WATCHING COPS BEAT AND SHOOT AND RUN OVER AND EVEN KILL PROTESTERS, AND THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY GAVE THEM $100 MILLION AFTER ALL THAT

Anyways, more people should bridge out from the usual AAA game pool today to just get more context and feel for the medium beyond what the most expensive titles of today really offer currently

Also points to a weird fragility people have with games where they want to view them as art and sophisticated like any other medium, but only if it replicates what Hollywood and the (western) film canon consider β€œartful” and the mechanics are left so barebones or frictionless

I don’t think it’s controversial to point out the stagnation and lack of diversity that Sony’s lineup has. Been very tuned out of most of their games since they generally fall into generic action adventure games with kinda dull stories

03.10.2025 16:06 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

still funny since they review them very positively and will continue to do so, but people would probably be even more upset if they went harder

ign lightly whacking Sony’s AAA slate of games for being run of the mill story wise was not on my bingo card

one of my favorite liberal tics is assuming when trump and the GOP talk about "the left" they're not talking about liberals

US culture doesn't reward people for 'having been right' about anything. In fact, this rarely matters. If you are powerful, it hardly matters whether you are wrong. Power rules everything around us.

Remember how lefties used to say "abolish ICE" back in the 2010s, and got roundly scolded by the centrists for it ever since, and now events have shown beyond a shadow of a doubt that they were 1000% on the correct side of history, but somehow they're still being scolded? Fun.
