The terrain mechanic is genuinely a very cool detail though and I hope that shows up more to make some of the level design more thoughtful and not kinda brain dead

I think it fares better than odyssey level design wise but many of the bananas haven’t left a huge impression so far

The change to make progression not gated by the bananas is relatively good but I’m not sure about weaving it with the silly skill tree upgrades

The flow of smashing shit and collecting things is addicting and fun, but I feel kinda put off with how unchallenged most of it is

Bananza edging Nintendo ever closer to that one game they seem to be into as of late

real crime though is the lack of a reset the day option from the last game. lost half of my white Pikmin because they wanted to dig up grass right when the day ended

Conceptually roguelike aspects can be interesting but so much of overworlds and dungeons are so dry, even Pikmin 4 didn’t really do this any better despite bringing in Pikmin 1/3’s time management and multi-tasking problem solving

Pikmin 2 was very ahead of the time for making generic procgen dungeon crawling its whole thing like most games nowadays

still in a weird spot with doing these but I really loved Pikmin 1 that much even with the charming GameCube era jank that was sometimes frustrating lol

Didn’t really find the calendar that stressful since it’s generous and you can collect many parts fast with how open ended and small the levels are. Kinda Resident Evil 1 coded but both are goated

Anyways, more people should bridge out from the usual AAA game pool today to just get more context and feel for the medium beyond what the most expensive titles of today really offer currently

I don’t think it’s controversial to point out the stagnation and lack of diversity that Sony’s lineup has. Been very tuned out of most of their games since they generally fall into generic action adventure games with kinda dull stories
