This was my favorite answer given by Damet at the presser this week. While I'm in the lets give someone other than Sangbin a run out camp, I can see the logic the #AllForCITY gaffer uses to make his decisions.

Rothrock missing for Seattle could be a massive missing piece for them. He leads non-defenders on their roster in touch percentage; holding an 8.6% share of the Sounders' touches. Might be a good boost for an #AllForCITY side still missing at least one projected starting CB.

I think Sergio Córdova sees mintues at some point this weekend. I don't expect him to start for #AllForCITY but he could give Damet something different off the bench.

Bürki seems optimistic about the bacline. Considering we've yet to see Fallou Fall and Mamadou Mbacke and have been getting Dante Polvara adjusted to a new role, I think there is even more to look forward to when it comes to the backline. #AllForCITY

Spot on analysis here. It’s down to poor decision making in several positions and San Diego using their quality to punish St. Louis for it.

There are going to be times the defenders have will be put in difficult moments due to our system. They just have to make better decisions. #AllForCITY

It wasn’t though. There were several tactical adjustments. If you look, the pressing shape and structure were different. It just didn’t work.

I think I’m going to shift how I look at these games a bit. That doesn’t mean results don’t matter. But maybe it’s less game to game and more big picture that needs to be seen during these early days for Damet.

Perhaps, more than anything last night is a recalibration of expectations. Maybe there was a bit overreaction to the performance against Charlotte that makes last night’s game in San Diego sting worse than it should.

As the week goes on, and reflection happens, perhaps there will be some positives to build on.

It’s fair to be critical. I’m not calling for blindly supporting the team. But one, early season performance with key pieces missing, does not a full picture paint.

We’ve heard it consistently since he was hired. There will be “times we suffer” and moments it will not look great.

These are growing pains. It takes time to install a system. And it can’t be discounted that there were major pieces missing last night.

The pendulum swings from reaction from week 1 to 2 have been wild so far.

Do I think it was a great #AllForCITY performance? No. Do I think it was a good performance? Not necessarily. But that doesn’t mean it’s time to call for Damet out or to call what he’s building a failure.

This box press structure didn’t work at all in the first 45’. Damet needs to make a switch because it either just left someone open as an easy outlet or was just ineffective overall. #AllForCITY has to make an adjustment.

You can argue #AllForCITY grew into the game. However, San Diego should have had more than one and the Polvara/Santos side is clearly where San Diego feels they can hurt us most.

We talked about keeping this guy in check on @redsmokerising.bsky.social He has been heavily involved and influenced this match in a big way. If I’m Damet, I’m having a think about changing something tactically to reduce his impact in the second half. #AllForCITY

That is a head scratcher for me. I don’t know who progresses the ball for us in this one.

For me, seeing progress and growth within the system is more important than the result. Any point taken would be a bonus. I want to see how #AllForCITY respond in a tough environment and if they can control any part of the game.

#AllForCITY continues to use all mechanisms to increase options for future roster build. Even if the incentives don't hit, it's still more than the cost of Müller's rights last year.

The alignment of contracts to the new MLS calendar continues. Becher's previous deal included similar options so this isn't a big shift. He has 15 goal contributions (nine goals and six assists) in 48 appearances across all competitions for #AllForCITY
